It’s easy to start your podcast for less than $100.  You need a microphone, a place to record, and a place to host.   I recommend the Samson Q2U, and subscribing to Riverside.FM to record your shows.  Then you can host your show on Simplecast for $15 per month.  With these four pieces, your podcast can be underway for about $100.  (Links below are affiliate links).
